Sharing a little love with the important people in your life is always a good idea. Whether you are hoping to find the perfect way to show your partner how much you care, or seeking small ways to share your love with your best friends, there are many ways to show important people in your life how much you care. Whoever you are hoping to share your feelings with, consider putting some of the following ways to express love into action.

Who Are Your Biggest Supporters?

Your biggest supports are the people who are always there for you. They may be your family members, close friends and potentially even mentors or coworkers who support you in achieving your goals. Success.com cites the following types of people as your biggest supporters:

  • Those who show they care about you. These are the people who always show up and are always on your team, and you never question whether or not they actually support you.
  • People who make an effort to understand you. They ask follow up questions about happenings in your life and know what’s important to you.
  • Friends who are honest with you. These friends share the truth and are open with their thoughts and feelings.
  • People who hold you accountable for your actions. These are the people who expect you to follow through on commitments you have made with them or with yourself.

Ways To Express Love To Those Who Support You

Sharing your love with the people who mean the most to you can make your relationship even stronger. If you want to celebrate the special people in your life but do not know how to get started, try some of the following ways to express love to those in your community.

Speak Up and Share Your Gratitude

You can tell a person you love them in many ways. This may mean actually saying the words “I love you,” but it may also mean simply contacting with these people; letting people who are important to you know when you are thinking about them can make them feel special and loved.

When the time feels right, share with someone that you are thankful for their support and that it really means a lot to you. This can be a big gesture or something small and simple. For example, you may text your long distance best friend a ridiculous photo you found of the two of you, call your grandma, or send your dad a goofy email.

Some people may also be interested in making a bigger gesture than a quick call or text to their supporters. If this is your case, you can express your love in some of the following ways:

  • Write this person a thank you card and send it via snail mail
  • Take them out to dinner or for their favorite activity
  • Give them a small token such as a gift card or book you think they would enjoy
  • Cook for them
  • Support a cause or organization you know they care about

No matter how you choose to speak up, reaching out to your supporters is one of many simple ways to express love!

Lend a Hand

Is an important person in your life working on a big project, running an event, or simply in a place where they could use a little extra support? If so, look for ways to lend a hand. This may mean volunteering at their event or inviting them over so they do not have to cook dinner. Small gestures of support can make a big difference!

Unplug When You Are With Them

Phones, computers, and other electronics have a habit of taking up attention and moving focus away from important people and relationships. One of the simplest ways to express love is to unplug when you are around someone and give them your full attention. This may mean turning off electronics while you are with this person or leaving phones in another room. Moving away from devices can help you avoid distractions and show this person that they are important to you.

Be Forgiving

Forgiving people is rarely easy. Whether you had a big fight with someone who has been in your life for a long time or you have been peeved with someone because of their behavior, it can be very difficult to find it in your heart to forgive people. However, if this person is important to you and you want them to continue to be a part of your life, finding ways to forgive can be a pathway to sharing your love with this person.

Make Them Something With Your Hands

While not everyone is an expert crafter, making a handmade card or gift is a great way to give someone a token of your appreciation. Sometimes, something you make or write and put a lot of thought into may mean more than a gift with a big price tag. If you like to sew, paint, or draw, consider creating something unique for people you care about. For those who are not the most artistic, consider using a card template that you can fill in with your own thoughts and images, or an old-school photo album where you print out images of great times you have had with that person.

Celebrate Their Success

The biggest supporters in your life may be the people who always put you first and do not make time for themselves. If there is someone special in your life, whether that is your significant other, best friend, mom, or brother, find time to celebrate that person. This may mean spending a day doing their favorite things, cooking them a delicious meal, or making plans to do absolutely nothing together. Setting aside some quality time to celebrate your biggest supporters in whatever way you see fit is a fun and rewarding way to express your love!
